Question of the Day for Tuesday, July 9, 2013
Q. Will our bodies be reunited to our souls in the resurrection on judgment day?
What if our bodies have been cremated or mutilated in an accident? Will our bodies be reunited with our souls intact? If we donated our organs to living persons and they’re still living, how can our “whole” bodies be reunited with our souls for the next life?
C.S., Dimondale, Mich.
A. Here’s a reply from TCA columnist Father Ray Ryland, Ph.D., J.D:
In Christ we have the promise of glorified, eternal bodies for our ransomed souls. As far as the resurrection is concerned, cremated bodies, mutilated bodies or bodies lacking organs raise no more problems for God than do bodies which have turned to dust in the grave. All souls destined for glory will receive their glorified bodies.
