Taste and see the goodness of the Lord. — Psalm 34:9
Mass Readings: 2 Corinthians 12:1-10/Matthew 6:24-34
Tomorrow for Tomorrow
A verse from today’s Gospel — “Do not worry about tomorrow; tomorrow will take care of itself” — reminded me of an e-mail my sister sent me last winter. She was writing about her concerns now, and a childhood memory from a long time ago: “I had just told Dad something and his response was ‘Don’t cross a bridge before you come to it.’ This made no sense to me so he had to explain it. ‘Almost everything you worry about doesn’t happen anyway so worrying is a waste of time.’ In that small, random slice of time, neither of us knew that those would become words of wisdom for me.”
As always, Jesus knew what He was talking about. As is often the case, so did a dad.
Prayer: Oh, dear Christ, give me Your peace when I become so anxious.
