Church’s Founding Date?

Q. What date states the beginning of the Roman Catholic Church?

A. Here’s a reply from Father Reginald Martin:

In Luke’s Gospel, we read Jesus’ promise to his followers “that repentance, for the forgiveness of sins, would be preached … to all nations” (24:47), as well as his command that they remain in Jerusalem until they “are clothed with power from on high” (24:49). The Church comes to birth in Jerusalem at Pentecost, but quickly spreads, and when the Acts of the Apostles draws to its close (c. A.D. 68) St. Paul has come to Rome.
