Heaven and earth are full of your glory. — The Sanctus
Mass Readings: Acts 17:15,22-18:1/John 16:12-15
Just Enough Light
If a bride-to-be fully grasped the “downside” of marriage, she might never take that walk up the aisle! If young couples comprehended all the trials and tribulations of parenthood, they may never have kids! Some knowledge is mercifully hidden from us until we’re ready to receive it and equipped to cope with it.
Today’s Gospel had me thinking about Christian author Stormie Omartian’s book Just Enough Light for the Step I’m On. Jesus gives His disciples just enough light for their present need. There’s so much more they need to know, but they aren’t yet ready to bear the burden of hearing it. At the appropriate time, the Holy Spirit will impart more knowledge to them, along with the grace to receive and live out those truths with courage and integrity.
Prayer: Wise Father, help me to trust You for just enough light, just for today.
