God’s Triumph

Q. I keep hearing that we will go through 1,000 years of peace before Christ will come back. I also hear that the 1,000 years of peace should be read as the 1,000 years of reign of Christ and that we already had the 1,000 years of reign from 546 to 1546? Which one is true?

A. Here’s a reply from Father Reginald Martin:

The Book of Revelation presents a dramatic picture in which Satan is chained for 1,000 years, while those who have died for their faith will come to life and live in peace with their King (see 20:1-15). As the millennium draws to its close, Satan will resume his efforts to overthrow Christ’s reign, but he will be defeated in the Last Judgment. He and his followers will descend to their eternal punishment, while Christ’s followers enter the eternal joys of heaven.
