Mary at Pentecost?

Q. I’ve seen Mary in paintings of the coming of the Spirit on Pentecost, yet I don’t find her mentioned in the Acts of the Apostles’ telling of the event. What’s the likelihood she was present?

A. Here’s a reply from Father Reginald Martin

The Acts of the Apostles relates that after Jesus’ ascension, his followers returned to Jerusalem and “went to the upper room where they were staying.” The text continues, “All these devoted themselves with one accord to prayer, together with some women, and Mary the mother of Jesus, and his brothers” (Acts 1:13,14).
