Catholic Meditations
Meditation: Leviticus 23:1,4-11,15-16,27,34-37
Found in the pages of the Bible between Exodus’ exciting story of the Israelites’ deliverance from Egypt and Numbers’ account of their relationship with God during long wanderings in the wilderness, the Book of Leviticus can seem to be a rather dull collection of rules governing every detail of the Israelites’ lives.

Friday Reflection …

Friday, July 31, 2009
“Perseverance is a great grace. To go on gaining and advancing every day, we must be resolute, and bear and suffer as our blessed forerunners did. Which of them gained heaven without a struggle?”
-St. Elizabeth Ann Seton
Lord, when I am struggling with pain in my life, remind me that I am never [...]

This Weekend’s Vincentian Reflection …

EIGHTEENTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME
August 2, 2009
Gospel: (John 6:24-35)
Jesus said “Do not work for food that perishes but for the food that endures for eternal life, which the Son of Man will give you. For on him the Father, God, has set his seal.” So they said to him, “What can we do to accomplish [...]

Catholic Meditations
Meditation: Matthew 13:47-53
The kingdom of heaven is like a net thrown into the sea. (Matthew 13:47)
The parable of the dragnet is a very sobering one. When we think about the fact that God’s angels will one day separate the good from the bad, we may get nervous! When we contemplate how God will judge [...]

Thursday Reflection

Thursday, July 30, 2009
“Rely upon God, and you will have the fulfillment of whatever your heart desires.”
-St. Vincent de Paul
What is my hearts desire? Sometimes I’m not even sure, but of this I am very sure, God’s love for me is unconditional and in surrendering myself to it I know my needs will be satisfied.

A new look for Orlando’s St. Vincent de Paul Web site …

can be found by clicking anywhere on this article or by going to: www.svdporlando.org
It’s also the place we can direct folks to register for the Walk on September 26. Not sure why, but the link I gave out previously was broken and won’t take you to the national site as it had been.
So, if [...]
